The previous replies are correct.

At the beginning of the game, you find yourself in an area where many doors do not open, and the locks cannot be picked. Have you spoken to everyone you can speak to? Are there any creatures in the rooms that you can get into? Have any of them said anything interesting? Perhaps one of the creatures you come across can open those doors for you?

Trying not to be too blatent here, just giving some hints, as it can be frustrating to be stuck so early on in the game.
