Keldorn is good cuz he can use the Casomyr. But I would get a Cleric. They can use Finger of Death and a whole load of other good spells at lower levels than that of a Mage. The mage spells can be found in the Adventurers Mart afetr you do Chapter 5 in Whats-his-face's "Special Wares". There.
