You can always boost whatever char you want to boost, but by using the good items on one char will automatic mean you can't use them on someone else instead. I kinda like Aerie in the party because of her spell selection. Ofcourse a Priest and a Mage is better, but that's *two* slots and Aerie is just one slot. (Not slut)
Naila is pretty cool though, or am i the only one who thinks that?
