Link storms into the bar, his sword still drawn. Blood is dripping off his face and his sword, and he grins in an evil way. He smiles at Lord Shield who looks shocked. He wipes some of the blood of his face, and puts his sword on an untaken table.
"Have you got something to clean my sword with, Lord Shield?"
The bartender hurries off, and a few moments later he returns with an old towel. He throws it to the warrior, but doesn't get any closer.
"Thanks"
Link takes the towel and starts cleaning his sword. While cleaning he remembers the battle fought only minutes ago. He can still hear the screams of the terrified Lizard Men trying to evade the vicious blows of his sword. Waisted efford. No living creature is able to survive an encounter with him. He knows that.
His sword is clean. He carefully places it back sheath and throws the towel in the air. Mumbeling a few words, Link waves his hands in a patern, that only the trained eye could follow. Immediately the towel is set to fire and burns to ashes within a second. Everyone in the bar stares at the vicious warrior, but when he glares back, they all get back to the things they were dealing with before.
Link sits down on a chair and waves at the bartender.
"A forever ale"
After saying the three words Link puts his feet on the chair, and relaxes. He wants to think of nothing just now. He closes his eyes, and concentrates on getting rid of the thoughts in head. He hardly notices Lord Shield placing a mug on his table. But he notices. He can notice anything when fully concentrated. Some say it is like a sixth sense. It might even be the correct name for it. A sixth sense. Link knows better than that. It is far more than a sixth sense. Far more than that...
He opens his eyes again and looks around in the bar. Nothing unusual this time. He remembers old times, when you could expect some weird creature to step into the bar any minute. The old fights. Yes, he still knows. Times have changed, or have they? He takes the mug of the table and brings it to his mouth. Indeed times have changed. Since the death of Atuan, he has been different, in some way he can't explain. He does not know what exactly has happened to him.. yet. He will find out.
He places the mug bag on the table to take a look at the treasuries he stole from the Lizard Men. A few coins, an angelskin ring, and a strange stone. Nothing as usual. He should have known it. Lizard Men aren't the type of creatures that steal a lot of things. He should have gone for the group of Goblins he saw in the distance.
"Damn" he mutters, as he puts the things back in his bag. Before putting the stone away he takes a closer look. This object might turn out valuable after all. The red stone shivers in his hand when he holds it close to one of the candles in the bar. Runes. He hadn't noticed them before, but now he sees them clearly. He takes the stone out of the light, and immediately that runes disappear again. He holds the stone in the fainting light of the candle and the runes reappear. How strange.
While wondering what the stone could be, he feels something hot inside his hand. The stone is shivering in his hand and is glowing red hot. He places it on the table before it gets any hotter and looks at it. The heat seems to be intensifying because the table is smoking. Moments later the stone falls on the ground and a hole is revealed in the table.
"What the - " Link mutters. He stares around, but no one seems to have noticed what's happening just yet. Under the table the stone is sending out rays of red light, which are getting stronger each second. Suddenly the bar has noticed something odd is going on. They all stumble upon their feet, and walk closer to the red-glowing stone. Meanwhile, Link is watching the stone cautiously. He does not know what is going on, and that can't be good sign.
"What is going on here?" an old man asks Link
"I don't know" is the only answer he gets. Before the man can ask another question the light intesifies rapidly and everyone falls back on the floor. The stone is glowing so bright, that no one is able to see it anymore. Suddenly, the glowing stops.
"Is it over?"
"What happened?"
The people in the bar look scared, not knowing what exactly is going on. Link isn't one of them, although he doesn't know what is going on as well. Fear is a word unknown to him. He laughs in the face of danger. But is it danger he is facing now?
He gets back upon his feet, and walks to the place where the stone had been lying. Was lying, indeed, for now a black hole the size of a table is in the bar. Unearthly sounds seem to come forth from the hole. Link turns his head towards the bartender.
"Lord Shield? I think we have a situation here.."
