I would agree with you that Haer sux. He can, as someone stated cast spells
while wearing armor but he is a poor excuse for a bard. Bards need two things
a kick ass bard song and a high lore rate. Haer lacks and both making him no use.
What new char you want depends on what you need. I would suggest a cleric it sounds like you need one. In my opinion Viconia totally kicks Anomens ass. But then she is evil, allthough you have Edwin in your party so I bet that wouldnīt be a problem. Others are Keldorn, Mazzy (she is strong with the bow) and my personal favourite Korgahn. Just choose but get rid of Haer.
And another pointer: Donīt waste your time on Imoen. I think she is the most boring character in all of BG2, and sheīs rather lame too. No NPC-related quests either (if Iīm not mistaken?).
