Dearest Silky-Paws,
as a typically immoral European I got to tell you that I would be much more concerned if a seven-year-old was not completely intellectually overstrained by a game as complex as BG II. The typical kid of that age would miss most details that make the game so interesting for us and would be certainly lost in most quests/battles.
