Bump from page 4 from ex-lurker.
I've recently finished BG2, partly thanks to all you guys.
It was thoroughly enjoyable, but I was a little disappointed at the end.
My tactics were to sleep as little as I could (I finished in 41 game days), and I decided to try as many quests as I could before setting sail, thinking that there was a nearly impossible battle at the end. I ended up with what I consider a great party but not much of a challenge. Myself (Monk), Korgan, Viconia, Jaheira, Edwin and Imoen were all maxed out with +3 weapons or better. I hardly ever used magic (apart from StoneSkin/Cure/Heal/Summon etc) and feel I may have missed out a great deal. I never threw a dart or fired a bolt.
I didn't like assigning weapon proficiency points first time through - how do you know in advance what kinds of useful weapons you are going to come across?
I've just started solo as an elven fighter/mage/thief. I'm not sure what weapon proficiencies I should have though. I think I picked ++ for two handed, ++ for long sword and + for short bow (or + for sling). Any other recommendations?
