My way was very tactical, Yoshi put a lots of special traps near table without making the lich appear. AND others to were he is teleporting. MAny Many traps. Korgan with pro negative plan moved to were the vampyr apear. Me (figh mage) and jaheira and Viconia to were that Damn Mage with MY Staff apear. Yoshi and Edwin standing were the lich will apear after the speech. Of course, all of them had haste on. Jaheira cast Insect plague to the mage And me Breach and Vic sommon skeleton for the beholder. After I kelled the Bich, I take the staff, ID it and smash the beholder. While my clerics and korgan run to kill the backstab thief and the lich if not already dead by yoshi's traps.
It is very tactical but I have the staff very early in the game. All at
level 9-10 max.
