I tried to play as a mage but found it hard in the early stages of the game, with only minsc and jaheria to do the fighting. It also maent that i had 2 sleep alot to recover my spells. But when you get to high levels this isn't as much of a problem, but finding good fighter protection is, the only pure fighter in the game is Mazzy and is better with her bow than with melle weapons.
