Yes your Kensai will have higher AC compared to others, because he is a offensive fighter not a defensive one.
In regular fighting, your kensai shouldn't have a huge problem with his AC, if you have mages or such with you a simple barkskin or other spells help him.
A Kensai Isn't a tank, he is a swordsman. A fighter in full magical platemail and shield with -10 AC is a tank, a Kensai with 0 AC isn't a tank.
Something that will work wonders for your Kensai. Potions of defense and invulnerability. They set his AC to 0, so yours will drop to about -8 or so when you use one, perfect for a large combat.
You won't have alot of problems with a Kensai GO ON THE OFFENSE! Let your fighters with the lower AC hit the enemy first, have your Kensai right behind them, that way the lower AC fighters get hit first, then your kensai jumps in.
