Hmm... If you're having touble with memorazation, use Edwin. He is awesome, since he gets HUGE bonuses to the number of spells he can cast. For instance, (this is a high level example, but i can't remember the low level Edwin stuff) a normal mage gets one 9th level spell at first. Edwin gets four. See the benefits?
