Sorry...but I must disagree. BG2 is MUCH better than BG.

Also, a side note about wizards. They start out pretty wimpy, but when they reach higher levels they become one of the most powerful classes. The reason? Low level wizards cannot memorize as many spells as high level wizards.

The morale? Don't worry if you only have one slot for a third level spell. You'll get more as you gain levels.

Or...you could go with a sorcerer if you don't like memorizing spells. They have a set number of slots, but they don't have to prep spells in advance, so it makes it kind of nice. On the down side, they cannot scribe spells from scrolls.
