This is what My monk wears...
Ring of Protection +2
Ring of earth control (+1 AC bonus)
Cloak of the sewers (+1 AC bonus)
Ion stone (+1 AC bonus)
Gauntlets of crushing
Amulet of magic resistance 10%
boots of avoidance
SO my monk has a AC of -9 (-14 vs missiles), does incredible melee damage, and has about 75% magic resistance. Not too shaby. Plus he carries all the summoning items in the game to use (figurines, horn of valhalla, genie bottles)
The only time I equipt him with regenerating items (gaxx, regeneration) is when he is hurt and Im just regenerating up. Otherwise he doesn't really need them. The Ring's of Gaxx do alot better on other characters who can take advantage of the immunities it has, and the haste abilities.
