The Gesen Bow String can be found either in chapter 4 or in chapter 5.
Can't remeber wich exactly, but in order to go to chapter 4 you musn't go trough the portal after facing Irenicus. It might be either in Irenicus'/Imoen's "prison" or right in the next land after facing Irenicus there.

P.s. The last part of the halberd wave is located somewhere after facing Irenicus if you don't go trought the portal there, but take the boat.
