Now, to answer your question about the mage.
SPELL CONTINGENCY: set with Absolute Immunity and Time Stop. Robe of Vecna lowers casting time to nothing, and AoE spells are NOT affected by Cloak of Mirrors. Cloudkill would whittle you down to nothing...
