All nice and fun items but one thing, this guy has just started and probably doesn't even have a clue where to look for these items at. I've been playing for just a short time and still don't know what you are talking about. I keep hearing of this disruptor but can't find it. I really really want that shield now too. I've practically bought all the good items from ventures mart. Got lucky and found the horn of valhalla and remembered where I sold my diamond to buy it back =(.... but this horn is awesome. This is one of the pieces you can get early on and I mean early.

--bit -o -- spoiler
I won't spoil it too badly but I believe it's found somewhere in the bridge district. You summon a warrior from vahlalla with it. It fights for one minute and it gets upgraded by you giving the smith in the Prom district your previous horn(one in bridge district) and a certain gem.

I currently fight outdoors but that's with a week's playing time.
Thats what I do right now so that I CAN rest. In the city, it's harder to rest/heal and save whenever. Hell, under the copper coronet, I walked back to the inn at least 50 times to rest.

**To me, you will get items if you use a thief to scout all areas and pick chests and look for traps. In some buildings, you will want to be careful. Always save prior to using your thief. He can get items for you to sell. Hit all the chests in the thieve's guild. There are plenty of areas to loot at the docks, slums and bridge areas.

** I didn't do this til late, but find only a handful of vendors to sell your stuff to. I now make mine the innkeeper in copper coronet and ribal at ventures mart in case I ever need to find those items I sold alrdy. I also bought two gem holders and one spell container. If I get my guildhall, I can put my good items in shelves there. I'm thinking of doing it at the inn. Not sure what happens to loot in chests. Should never go away.

** For exp and loot, I went and did the slave quest in copper coronet and there is a good piece in a chest there somewhere in the building. Then behind this secret wall you can go to the sewers underground. MORe exp to be had there and a quest for weapon. Then there is a stairway upwards to more exp and loot.

**After clearing out the copper coronet, I did the bridge district area but took heedance not to bring anomen inside the large mansion since I read a spoiler somewhere. I was lucky too since I want to see what happens when Anomen gets accepted to the Radiants. if for some reason you meet the lich in the bridge district, skip em. also fighting some of the vampires at night didn't give me exp so it was a big waste of my time.

There is a set of men upstairs above the inn in the prom district that gives a hellofa fight but great items. Mercs in bridge dis is the same. I decked out Minsc and Jah in the full plate set and had few left over to sell.

**Kill late night bandits but try not to fight the vampires.

If you have done all this and didn't do any guild quests yet, you should be sitting on some cash with experience and some bad ass items. I fought enough vampires to know I aint going to the graveyard while I got tons of other things I could do for exp and coin. The docks offer 3-4 quests and an area to hunt in behind a secret wall at the inn.

My setup is this, Me- half orc bounty hunter, Jaheria - fighter/druid, Minsc- ranger, anomen- fighter/cleric, aerie- mage/cleric, and was yoshi another btny hunter. My characters don't have scripts. I control their every move with alot of pausing. I set my main guy to have a script only so that he can try to invis without me having to do so everytime manually. I just find it easier.

I dumped Yoshi to try out the groves with cernd. He's butt naked and that irritates me when I'm almost dead broke. if the groves don't prove profitable, I'm heading back to the docks or nalia's.

I'm not saying to follow this, but for me, it was ideal. I'm finding new things and have yet to get stuck or get a major ass whoopin. Well, I have but twas on my own accord and wasn't really part of my real game. I have like 50 saves in chapter two at different areas.

G'luck, have fun, and this game really is a blast. Oh, and I'm way way curious on where this shield is and the boots. I want boots too!!! =) just say what area is all i need. I'll do the rest on trying to find them.

( btw, it seems I'm almost posting the same ole thing in most of my posts.... =/ I just hope it helps someone out there and isn't too long of a drag read.)
