Ooh.. had a lot of difficulties with this guy too.

But if you are fighting him, it means you killed the Demon Knight! And for me, that one was much more difficult.

For Aec'Letec I used the following strategy. After killing all those fanatics on the top floor, I went back to the inn and rested. Then I went back to the cult house. Just before I went downstairs, I cast about every possible protection spell on myself and drank all my potions. I esp. used Minor Globes of Invulnerability, Mirror Image, Chant, Draw Upon Holy Might, Barkskin, Potions of Heroism, Invulnerability, Magic Resistance/Protection/Blocking, Defense. (make sure you have some extra potions left). Oh, before I forget, you really should be well-stocked, I suggest you make a quick trip to Sorcerous Sundries and buy potions, wands, and esp. ARROWS OF DETONATION
OK, my party had me as a cleric, Minsc, Dynaheir, Jaheira, Khalid and Imoen (boring I know

). I equipped Minsc and Immy with arrows of detonation, Jaheira and myself with a Wand of the Heavens, Khalid with potions of explosions and the +3 twohanded sword from Durlag's Tower and Dynaheir with a wand of Fire and a wand of Monster Summoning.
When the Leader Cultist summoned the Demon, I immediately paused and whacked her with my cleric and Khalid's +3 sword, letting Dynaheir cast Magic Missile on her and Jaheira using the wand of Heavens. She was dead in no time.
Now, this is of utmost importance: before you kill Aec'Letec, you MUST kill all the Cultists!!! If you do not, the Demon will use one of their bodies to respawn. Now, what I did was this: I had Imoen and Minsc shoot arrows of detonation at the cultists standing farthest away, Khalid threw POtions of Explosions at them, Dynaheir summoned monsters and used the next round to also shoot a fireball in the back of the room (using wand or spell) and Jaheira and I used the Wand of the Heavens on the cultists standing at the front. This Fireball overkill usually takes out every single Cultist in a matter of minutes (otherwise, have Khalid chop up the remains with that great sword- BTW if he is too weak in your party give him the +3 plate mail found in Durlag's Tower and he'll be a killing machine....you might wish to cast remove fear though to prevent him from losing Morale)
OK, time to take on the Big Demon... I had Minsc, Khalid and myself whack him with our best weapons, and the rest casting spells or shooting arrows. Jaheira and Dynaheir renewed our protections if needed (so you need more defensive than offensive spells - try Remove Fear, Chant, Cure Wounds etc.) Being a cleric and having the Bhaal special abilities I could heal myself fast as well. After the fight you may have to resurrect one or two of your less fortunate party members...
This tactic worked for me, I hope it will help you as well

GOOD LUCK!!!
