Lord Shield? That is a good point - but in BG1, Jaheira and Khalid will attack & kill Monteron and (I forget his name) his wizardly pal when they, too, have done no wrong. Just because they are evil-aligned. But there are usually warning signs before it happens, so you can ditch anyone liable to get killed if you want to.
When creating or adding to a team, it is a good idea NOT to have opposite-aligned team members! Or, if you want to keep your good members, not to commit evil actions, lol!
Anyway, I LIKE Keldorn! And I always let him go home to his wife pretty early
