Okay, I've got another question (found below), and a tip.

When I started playing BGII, I was interested in the books in the library in the first dungeon. Did they provide needed background info for the rest of the game? Were they histories of the places and characters that I would be going to / interacting with? Do I have to copy all the info down if I don't want to (or can't) carry all these books out of the dungeon? (Call me detail oriented.)

Well, no, as it turns out. Apparently, these are the same books that were in the library of Candlekeep (your home) in BGI. (which I haven't played, but that's what I gather from sources online). You can read these histories at your leisure online (at not have to waste game time): try http://www.caliph.net.au/~lord_lag/historys.html or
http://www.cheadlea.freeserve.co.uk/...ery/index.html

So here's my question: has anyone tried to sell one of these books in town? Is a set more valuable? What is a history worth?

In a medieval society, books (histories) would be as valuable as gems, and collections (sets) are always more valuable... Did they incorporate this into the game?
