No, you don't lose your items. You don't really *import* your characters into ToB. It is supposed to be a seamless transition from the end of BG2 immediately into ToB. We'll see... However, if this is the case (and it works right) then you shouldn't lose any items...I wouldn't think. I think the way it works is if you start with a new character from ToB they already have some good stuff.
