Actually, it seemed like I COULD dual from a sorcerer, but not TO a sorcerer when I tried once. As far as sorcerer/ mages go, I would just stick with the sorcerer and use shadowkeeper to give him extra spells ("Add" under the Wizard tab at the top). Plus you won't be dividing your experience, or redoing it.
