I think there are several Roenals in the game. Isea is the one who want Nalia to marry him, he is the one with the guards. With that said, I've found that if I take to Isea Roenal during the funeral and then make it his funeral, the fighter stronghold quest will not continue (i.e. the first confrontation with Lord Roenal (the true Lord Roenal) will not happen in the keep).
And killing him after the little chat at the funeral will not cause the others to go hostile, but you can kill them anyways for your leisure.
The true Lord Roenal will have something to do with the fighter stronghold quest, that's all I can remember and spoil (for now).
