I don't use any AI exploits or any other little tricks (cloudkill, wizard eye, etc etc), and I have to say that Gaxx is just too tuff to defeat with his imprisonment spells.
Firkraag just takes time, enuff potions on yer party and you can just beat him down. Gaxx requires too good of weapons to fight.
