I don't know, Minsc does have some interesting conversations at times with your party members and npc's, and is quite good as a fighter( i mean ranger), but there are also plenty other fighters available to you throughout the game.

i use mincs cos i'm sortof "loyal to BG1 since i had him during bg1...he's grown on me!
