the illithid correspondance is just to make you feel pleasant for wiping them out, it has no other value..
that wand is actually lots of fun to use. i used it frequently thru suldanessalar during my solo jaunt,
here and got random lightning, petrification, and some other good ones. ok.. sometimes you heal the enemy, but its not all bad news.... giggle
