I had the same problem but I didn't have a saved game early enough. I ended up going and fighting my way past the guards and golems, stealing the eggs, and fighting my way out of the drow city. You can do it. I ended up killing everything in the underdark except the dragon.

I tried this method, just becuase i wanted to go on a killing frenzy
but the guard or somebody locked the whole town up and i couldn't get out. i think i took to much time on torturing and killing everybody in town.
