First of all...

I have had a problem before with this where you cant find the Acorns when you kill the guys. If this happens, use one of the many editors for BG2... there are some good ones here and here. make sure u only use these if u need to though... they are addictive, and some of the items u can add may spoil the rest of the game for u.
