what's your computer I had that problem with my older computer (it was p200) so it might be worth it to lower the game's graphics to a minimum. Or maybe it's an application problem my win 98 sometimes crash while runing Bg2 in the weirdess sound bug. The game will stall on a sound of someone talking...
