Feeling your pain - I just went up against Jon last night.
Killed him the first time - after he killed my mage, druid and thief in short order. The movie that runs immediately afterwards crashed the game (you can't save until after you're in Hell, of course)! SO...I had to reload it up and fight him AGAIN
Fight #2: Jon toasts just my mage and druid this time before I beat him down. Off I go to Hell, the movie doesn't crash the game this time. Mage resurrects with equipment, but my druid (who had the resurrection wand and Staff of the Woodlands) resurrects bare-butt nekkid! AC of 8, woo hoo!
I'm not going to reload again - I equipped my druid with items carried on other characters, and with Iron/Bark Skins, he'll be OK (I hope). Just don't want to take the chance of another game crash (or worse equipment loss) by fighting Jon again.
