It turns out that the spell selection is just really screwed up for Rangers to begin with. I talked to someone at the Wizards of the coast who said this:

quote:
In the 2nd Edition PHB, rangers of 8th level or higher only had access to the plant & animal spheres, not to all the spheres that druids did.
You should keep each class's spell lists & casting level separate from others (just like in 3rd Edition), so a ranger/cleric would cast:
1. rangers spells from the ranger's spheres using the ranger's spell-casting level; &
2. cleric spells from the cleric's spheres using the cleric's spell-casting level.

:end quote

Basically, spell selection works the same as if you dualed a mage. For example, if you dual at level 8, when you catch up, you should only be able to cast one extra 1st level spell from the plant or animal sphere, rather than have access to every sphere of spells.

Anywhos, this is for all who are interested.

Does anyone know anything about the new Aurora engine and if it's going to adhere to the 3rd ed rules better than the infinity engine stuck to the 2nd ed. rules? I've only heard vague rumors about the engine in general.
