Farewell, Sylent, and good luck with your studies !
I just have to indulge into the linguistic debate raised here or to quote, Moiraine the sage: I am learning something new on this board every day. I was surprised to hear that
"adieu" had such a final connotation in French, since in Catalan "adeu" is just used
in everyday life, for instance when you leave a shop. Same goes for "adios" in Spanish, at least the version they use in Catalunya, but as they have a completely bilingual society there, I noticed that the use of the one language influenced the use of the other quite a bit and vice versa.
So wouldn't "farewell" be the perfect equivalent for "adieu" ?
Sorry for rambling, but "languages" is one of my favourite subjects.
