Well, Armisael, our outlook on the holidays isn't shared by everyone. I don't know your girlfriend, she may think otherwise, so you should consider that and do whatever special thing you were thinking of for her sake.
Cloudbringer - no doubt slow night on the ol' Board tonight! You are one lucky gal having a house of your own. My husband and I have to move in a month or two, owners selling the house waaay over our budget (not going to go into the soap opera of roommates we have endured this past couple years, although it would probably give everyone a good laugh!) and are in the "rent or buy" dilemma. We looked at a house for rent (possible buy) today, but don't really know what to think of it. The owner no longer lives in it but there are two dogs in it!! From the sound coming outside the windows it sounded like one old large dog, and we spotted a mid-size poodle yapping at the window. As the windows were too high from the ground, we couldn't see inside, and I have to wonder if that is a good thing! I mean, what does this shack smell like anyway? But, unfortunately, the market here is very slim pickins, so we have to lower our standards somewhat. It's pretty crazy in this area right now as one bedroom apartments go for the same price as house payments, yet there are very few houses left not already bought and paid for! Get this, called an apartment complex to ask about rates/availability, and they said cats were allowed if they were neutered AND declawed! I'm sorry, but I'm not mutilating (declawing) our cat for some roach motel, thank you very much! Sheesh! Anyway, don't these people realize that cats only damage furniture, not the walls or the floor or whatever they are paranoid about!? Anyway, I'm looking at our situation as a challenge that I will take on as far as needed to go. I'm not giving up, I'll find us a decent place to live if it kills me!!
