Helm is a good kit for clerics -- True Sight is a sweet spell, and having it as a special ability means (1) smaller chance of intrruption and (2) you can use those valuable 5th level spell slots for something else. Helm is also good because neutrality is good -- you are immune to some very annoying enemy priest attack spells (holy smite and unholy blight) and you'll get a good mix of good and evil Bhaal powers.
For druids, Totemic is easiest early on. Spirit animals can't be hit by normal weapons! Later their attacks become less effective, but having more blockers is never a bad thing.
Shapeshifters: has anyone tried taking a shapeshifter to level 13 and then dualing to fighter WHILE REMAINING TRANSFORMED into a greater werewolf? I did this from level 8 as a normal werewolf for a while (neither leveling up nor sleeping seems to cause de-transformation) so it may be possible.
The point of this would be to have the kick-butt stats of a greater werewolf and yet have a decent Thac0.
