Charlie,
Very wise words mate. Being both Australian and an avid reader of history I often get frustrated by the lack of written history from this country, and even more so by remarks that limit the origins of Terra Australis to a 'prison colony' (Adelaide for a start had no convicts and it also ignores the original inhabitants as you mentioned.)

Thanks for your slant and sharing your perspective. All this and you're from the old dart. Maybe there's hope yet. (joke)

Hey Melusine, Rikard if you're reading, were you aware the Dutch were the earliest known Europeans here? Do the names Abel Tasman, Dirk Hartog or Van Deimen mean anything over there?

Moiraine how's Luc's office?

Fighter-Thief, I'm not offended but I am bemused. How hard is it to check the spelling of a country's name? You knew you were out, but did you know how far? You risked displaying the very Roman Empire mentality you mentioned by failing to do this.

Now please, I'm not flaming him so give me a break guys, just pointing out a humorous occurrence, that's all. If you could hear me you would hear the jocular tone in my voice.

I've heard all Ammierikhans (???no-one get offended by my spelling please) are descended from Leif Ericsson anyway.
