I'm playing as a lvl 8 thief dualed to a mage. I put over 100 points in open locks and find traps when I created my thief and dualed to as soon as BG2 started. By the time I was out of Irenicus' dungeon i was lvl 9 mage, went around and did some easy, mostly non-fighting quests and now I'm at level 15 after only a few quests.
