If you're in Athkatla you can't go back into Irenicus' Dungeon, so it's too late for that.
To get Minsc out of his cage, tell him you don't know how to open it. He will think you don't want to free him, get real mad and burst open the cage's door.
Oh, and you might want to consider turning you CAPS LOCK off.
