Yuk.
Still as long as it's not as bad as the pathetic drivel that was attempted before, it may be passable. How can they accurately convey the historical depth, the scope, the hugeness of the land, the sense of time or the myriad creatures. The creatures work in the imagination but always seem cheesy when brought into the screen.
We'll be no worse off than Anne Rice fans I suppose, or those of any other book adapted to film.
They're two different mediums. What works in the minds eye doesn't always translate. Like Dune. Great film, loved it. But then I read the book and realise the extent to which it was compressed!
I'll be watching it though, of that you can be certain. Can't wait.
