Possible spoilers!!!!!

The considerable number of undead in BG2 is one of the reasons for playing an undead Hunter PC. Nothing like being innately immune to Level Drain.

Actually, the upgraded version of the mace of Disruption is a kick-ass anti-undead weapon since it added immunity to level drain to its already useful abilities.

Some points:
1. Buy the Resoration scrolls whenever possible. Just in case...

2. Until you have a character that is immune to level drain (innately or by immunity confered by some item), try only travelling in the city during daylight hours. Removes the chance of a random vampire encounter.

3. Once you have an immune character, use it to block doorways and to draw all vamps to him/her, while the others use ranged weapons (i think +2 or better). If there is not a doorway to bottleneck the enemy, have the immune character charge the vamps to draw their attention.

4. Watch out for the vampire confusion. Your immune character had better be very resistant (if not immune) to confusion/charm attacks.

5. I think that most +1 weapons will work on most undead. Greater mummies may require +2 weapons.

6. The Daystar long sword ROCKS!!! The ability to cast the Sunray spell once a day is a great killer of undead. However, the real trick is saving the sunray for the best moment. If you're invading Bodhi's lair, ther will be plenty of vamps. Don't waste the sunray on mummies or the stray vamp. When you see a group of vamps, let the sun(ray) shine forth!!! There's nothing quite like seeing a mob of vamps and mummies doing their best human torch imitations!!!
