Korgan is the best fighter in the game, even with Keldorn wielding the HA. He's got Grandmastery in Axes and you can get him to specialize in hammers as well, for obvious reasons. I would put him above Minsc who can only go up to specialized. Only disadvantage with Korgan is the one you just found out about.
