The Asus K7V is suposed to be a good board for an AMD thunderbird. I haven't tried it myself but when I upgrade over the summer I'm switching to the thunderbird.

I don't know what the newest ABIT board is, but they're good. I've presently got one in and have no complaints.

3com for the network cards definately. Pricey but dependable. They're what we use at work. I have one in my home computer. Unfortunately I'm no longer on a T1 line. I hate modems.

Also don't by a Kenwood TrueX cd-rom if you're thinking about it. They get good reviews but they don't have long lifespans. My friend and I have gone through three or four in the last year and a half.
