you may find gimli is a better fighter as a rouge than a fighter. But if you keep him a fighter you may want to concentrate on swords or pullarms or even staffs. There are few good axes in the game and even those don't compare to the swords or pullarms you find. Train your bish in Alchemy there are some very good dibillitating spells for them.
