Hey everyone
I keep meaning to get back and re-play Wiz8 (only played it through once), but time and disk space are tight I played through Wiz 7 once, way back in the day when it first came out (and then that loooong 10 year wait for Wiz8..) and loved the living hell out of it (nearly destroyed my life back then, but ah well.. thats what its for
Every now and again I look into Wiz7 .. it was very long, but it'd be worth playing 7+8 again I think.
The issue is.. the interface. I own both Wiz7 and the pseudo-Windows Gold version of it. Wiz7 original (the 2 disk floppy edition with the credit card pack-in) runs in DosBox. I find it has nearly no key shortcuts, and you know.. using the mouse is tedious in there. I also really dislike having to hit "Fight" every time for all 6 chars.. (one of the best things of Wiz8 was just repatingt thr last commands.)
Wiz Gold I think improved on things a trouch, but whenever I try key shortcut.s. they don't work. So again, mouse heavy. That'd drive me nuts after awhile, and again the no repeat option since its the same game as the DOS one.
I've considered hacking DosBox to work differently.. add some macros or cusotmizations just for Wiz. ie: Maybe make it so hitting "F" would move the mouse to where the Fight button is and click, for instance. That coudl possible make it more bearible..
A shame we can't "mod" Wiz 8 (can we?) .. it'd be cool to remake Wiz7 in Wiz8.. since Wiz8 is the best RPG system around pretty much IMHO
Anyway, I'm meandering about here so.. whats the *best* way to play Wiz7?
The DOS one in DosBox? Or the WizGold? I believe it'll run in Win98/ME though I don't think it works in WinXP so it may be out for me.
Any tricks to make the older UI a little more bearible?
