That trick normally works. Unless the maze designer is clever enough to defeat it. A few games make it very hard to do that. Wiz 7 and the portal room in the tower comes to mind. I think there was another in that game, too. The mines in Wiz 6 were a real hassle trying to do that as well. I never map and rely on memory, but some mazes are plain hard and the "one-rule for all turns" does not always get you there. Isolated "islands" in a maze will never be entered using one rule.
