I tend towards Faeries for all spellcasters except Priests (here I pick Human) because they have the highest intelligence and will allow you to get the highest possible powercast by game end. Also great speed. If I'm running lots of spellcasters, some of them will be elf or gnome for variety's sake. Also the blonde Faerie is really cute.
