You're right Sultan. You can do it that way and get by just fine, although I can't get behind training skills outside the ordinary course of the game. I guess it comes down to how you role-play it.
I've always had the feeling that my rogues are pretty comfortable in their own skins and aren't all that interested in magic tricks when it comes to doing what they do best -- open the box and take the best stuff for themselves!
