I have been in this situation a few times. Clicking on Z'ant with any of the quest items you need to complete a quest accesses the dialogue you require and completes the quest.
HOWEVER.
IF you click on him again, even after securing an alliance with the umpani and have rodan and drazic, he will still go spycho on you. SO basically one "good" converstation with z,ant per quest item if he discovers your're double crosing him.
