I'm usually level 13-14 when i fight nessie. I save just before Entering the Bayjin Shallows (i come from Umpani caves). After dropping down i hug the wall to the right, after coming out from behind the rocks combat will start. I throw a canned elemental, cast element shield, then the next turn i make a mad dash for Davy Jones (the elemental will keep Nessie busy until i reach the cave). If the contents in the chest is good then i will go back out and fight nessie using 2-3 canned elementals and ranged weapons (with the best ammo i have), if the contents aren't useful, reload.
