First of this should probably be in the ToB forum but i'll give you a strategie anyway.
Hit and run tactics work. Place all of your party members near the portal to the machine of Lum the mad. Summon the best summons you have. Let the guardians out and concentrate on one of them. When that one is dead retreat to the previous level and rest and heal up. Come back, take another one out, so forth and so on. Also remember to buff your people. Haste, bless, chant, prot. from evil, resist fear, defensive harmony, improved (mass) invisibility, etc.
Forgot about death ward. Put as many people under this.
