Well, of all the classes in the game, I think the Fighter/Mage type is the most versatile, in that, barring thievery, can handle any situation.
The problem is, there are too many cool weapons to solo!! Oh look, just built Shadow Dragon scale, oh darn, it disables spell casting TOO!? Gotta wait until the end of SoA for "the good stuff."
I plan on using SK to make my Elven F/M more like I think he should be (5 stars in primary weapon, then put no more than 1 star in anything else, ranged weapons can be used but with no proficiency slots, etc.), but I guess the problem comes from the fact that I prefer katanas as a sword (I practice everyday in r/l) and just see an agile elven warrior with a light and swift katana, rather than a 4 foot long longsword that is made for hacking and slashing.
But then I see all the cool long swords, and think I'm really limiting myself if I choose katanas. I suppose I can always rely on MMM, but I don't want all 5 3rd-level spell slots to never change...
Such a dilemma...
Maybe the main problem is I watch Samurai Jack, and he just rules. Emulating a character like that can be difficult under BG2 rules, especially with the enemies you face (dragons, liches, powerful magic). Ah well.
