My two main complaints with W&W are first the odd idea of having turn based combat for you and nearby monsters but still letting monsters further away move in real time. It could create some real nasty situations where monsters shot at you from a distance in real time while you were trying to combat in turn based.
This seeems to have been a consequence of the fact that the game was initially intended to be multiplayer.
The second was that the promotion quests had to be done by each character individually. Doing the same quest several times got rather boring. Just clicking through all the dialogue for each character individually was boring.
